Commissions are a large portion of my business and I absolutely love creating work that is personal and truly special for a client. The procedure for an oil painting or illustration are virtually the same.

1. DECIDE CONTENT

We will discuss the content, angle, layout, and any special details you'd like captured. Most commissions are animals, people, architecture, or southern scene, but I'm open. I can work from photos and love having plenty for reference, so send a bunch.

If you like a piece I've already done, we can work together to come up with one similar, with its own personalization.

2. CHOOSE THE SIZE

The size will depend on the medium. The most common illustration is 8"x10". Oil paintings started at 16"x20" and go up from there.

3. PAYMENT

As soon as we have decided the content and size, a 50% deposit is due before I begin. 2 revisions along the way are included in the pricing. All commissions sales are binding and final.

4. COMPLETION

Once the painting is finished and the client is totally satisfied, the remaining balance will be due. The painting will be shipped out (or delivered if local) soon after. Typical turnaround for an oil painting 8-10 weeks after I begin. Illustrations are 6-8 weeks. This time frame may vary depending on the time of year.
